* WORSHIP IN THE SANCTUARY!  If you have wandered into the sanctuary over the summer, you can see the incredible amount of work that has been done.  One of the last items was to refinish the wood floors and clean the carpeting.  That will be finished and we will be worshipping in the sanctuary on September 21st.  Many thanks to all the volunteers who gave time and energy to complete this work!
*  SESSION COMMITTEES meet on Wednesday, Sept. 17th in the Great Hall.
*  RALLY DAY  DISPLAYS will be moved to the Great Hall so they will be available for everyone who comes to the Fish and Chips Dinner.  Thanks to the Elders and Deacons who put these displays together.
*  For the month of September, the Deacons will be making donations to Touch The World Ministries and Presbyterian Disaster Assistance.  Our Deacon food collection is ongoing.  Please remember to bring times such as tuna, pasta sauce, canned fruit, toothpaste and toothbrushes.  All canned items are welcome.  The Deacons will be collecting diapers and baby items for Norwescap.  The entire congregation is invited to participate.  The collection will begin September 21st and continue for one month.  A playpen will be set up to collect items.  Thank you@
* INTERFAITH MEMORIAL SERVICE - The Joseph T. Quinlan Bereavement Center along with the Karen Ann Quinlan Hospice is holding an Interfaith Memorial Service for anyone in the commuunity who have experienced loss.  It is an opportunity to commermorate loved ones and receive the support of the larger community.  The service will be held on Monday, September 15th at 7:00 PM at the First Presbyterian Church of Newton.
*  9/8 thru 10/03/2014 (Monday-Saturday 8 AM until 5 PM)  The church will receive 20 % off the retail price of items purchased from C&C Growers, 156 Hampton House Road, Newton, NJ 07860.  Flyers are on the table in the Great Hall.  You need to bring a flyer so that the church will be credited for the purchase.  Thank you!
 Presbyterian Women will be holding a collection of children's new winter clothing for their mission at Leeds, Maine.  Please place contributions on the table by September.  Thank you for your help!
Fish and Chips Dinner - September 20th from 5:00 to 6:00 PM.  Adults-$13, Children-$6.  Tickets are available from members of the Property Committee, or the Church Office.
* Annual Worship Service at the Old Clove Church, Route 23 Wantage, NJ 07461 on Sunday, Spetmeber 21st, 2014 at 2 PN.  Worship Service will be led by Pastor John Kuperus.  Miktoria-Leigh Wagner will be the Soloist.  Refreshments on the lawn.  Come and meet your friends.
The Deacons would like to thank the congregation for participating in donating funds for the Church World Service Summer Blankets.  The total amount collected was $247.00

Please continue to support  the Deacon food pantry.  Deacons are responsible for bringing food items to the Salvation Army Food Pantry in Franklin.  If you would like to donate, please bring items to the church and place in the Deacon food bins.  Items in great need for the summer are cereal, pop tarts, tuna, soup, peanut butter, jelly,  canned fruit, individual sizes of applesauce & puddings.  Other items are always welcome.

The Deacons are doing a summer mission project to make baby blankets for the maternity ward of Newton Medical Center.  The entire congregation is invited to participate.  Blankets can be knitted, crocheted, quilted, or sewn.  Anyone wishing to make a blanket may leave it with Kathie Drew in the office or contact a Deacon.

If you would like to host lemonade this summer, please sign your name on the calendar in the Great Hall or contact Barbara Sparta at (973) 827-6648.
 Beginning June 15th we will be worshipping in the  Great Hall.  It is air-conditioned and one of our big projects this summer is the painting of the sanctuary.  The worship time will not changed - we meet at 10:00 AM on Sunday.

The Finance and Personnel Committee have placed materials in West Chancel regarding ONE GREAT HOUR OF SHARING, the Presbytery Assistance program that provides much needed relief to areas affected by such disasters as Hurricanes Katrina & Sandy.  In many instances, the PDA continues to provide assistance long after all other relief efforts have discontinued doing so.  This is a much needed and important outreach ministry helping many who otherwise would not receive help long after others have abandoned them.

Please take an envelope and/or fish box home with you and prayerfully reflect on your stewardship to support this mission.  The F&PC will be taking collections for this program all year long, and we thank you for your generosity,

Do your need support and a helping hand with an elderly loved one that you are caring for at home?  A new respite program called "In Good Company" is now being offered in Sussex County.  Quality supervised activities while you, the care giver, can shop, go to a doctor's appointment, attend church or receive guidance from the program social worker.  In Good Company is located at Sussex County Homestead Complex and the hours vary by day.  Please call (973) 948-5400, ext. 3122 for more information.
Attention Seniors:  If you are age 60+, a Sussex County resident, and your total annual income does not exceed $19,240 for singles or $25,900 for couples, you are eligible to receive vouchers worth $20 that can be spent at NJ Fresh Farm Stands.  Proxies may be assigned for the homebound.  Contact Sussex County Division of Senior Services at (973) 579-0555.
The Session would like to ask that when submitting a Prayer Request for an individual, be sure to let the church office know the reason for the request  -- e.g. recovering from surgery/illness/injury; dealing with a personal loss; facing a chronic illness; serving overseas in the military, etc.  This will make our prayers more specific and will enable us to write cards that are more unique to the person for whom prayers are offered.  Thank you in advance!
One of the programs that the Deacons have organized is a "Food Chain" which provides meals to those in our congregation who are temporarily physically unable to prepare meals for themselves, or their families, due to illness.  If we can have many members in the "chain", then the need to provide frequent meals is reduced to a minimum (this is one situation where too many cooks do not spoil the broth).  Please think about joining our "Food Chain"- you can leave your name and phone number with the Church Secretary in the Church office (973) 827-6444)), or on the sign-up sheet at the rear of the sanctuary.
* The Per Capita apportionment for 2014 is now $32.22.  This amount is for each member not for each family.  Thank you!
